About Ulsav

Ulsav is an end-to-end event management platform built for organizing events of all varieties and sizes, and to make the life of organizers easy and the experience of participants seamless.

Ulsav was never designed and built to be a standard and generic event management platform. Since 2019, the founding team of Ulsav has been hosting the Vidyut Multifest and various other events at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University. From the days of being student volunteers of the college fest tech team, we have been evolving Ulsav in the last 5 years, solving problems and optimizing processes we found while organizing the events, getting better each time. The goal was simply to help organize these events as seamless as possible, give the best participant experience, and never to actually build and run a SaaS.

Ulsav had to be built because we have always been solving use-cases and challenges specific to academic and student events, and needing features and flexibility most generic platforms never offered. We were solving for this niche than building a generic ticketing platform, sometimes for the better, sometimes a little too different from others.

Ulsav after being in stealth and incubated for years, is now public and offered as a complete event management SaaS platform. Ulsav fundamentally follows a different approach, stands out unique, presents valuable features and seamless experience for event organizers and participants, and can do what most other event SaaS platforms cannot do.

Ulsav has two distinct ways of managing events -

  1. Portals are branded multi-event experiences scoped under an Organization with isolated data, custom theming, and configurable features, rules and restrictions.

    • They are useful to organize events like Tech Fests, Conferences etc. where there are usually several sub events happening as part of one event.
    • Organizations may also create a common event portal to list all their events under one roof, such as a University managing all their internal events year-long.
  2. Standalone events are those which are organized independently without being part of any other event and having no sub-events under them.

    • Examples include workshops, masterclasses, concerts, meetups etc.

When using Portals, Ulsav completely isolates and separates user data for each Organization, and gives full control of the participant data to the organization. Organizations can setup custom registration requirements, restrictions, SSO authentication flow etc. as well as also freely manage and view data of users under the Organization portals.

Unlike most of its counterparts, Ulsav, through portals and multi-tenancy support, gives complete control over the event registration experience, rules and data. Ulsav does not create or enforce a global user account for Portal events, but rather creates a seperately isolated user under the Organization tenant.

Event organizers often have to pick between having a branded custom themed event listing in a portal they build-ground up just for their event, or to list their event on a popular event ticketing platform for better discovery.

The first approach gives the organizers full control of the looks, data, as well as the registration flow, fields, and rules. But this often means building a portal on your own (or using more generic CMS platforms like WP). As these portals are one-off, they do not have SEO or do not have an inherent reach to target audience.

  • ✅ Look & Feel - Custom Themes, Branded Portal, White-labeling
  • ✅ Own Your Data
  • ✅ Host in your custom domain
  • ✅ Cheaper pricing once setup
  • ❌ Visibility & Reach to target audience
  • ❌ Easy and quick setup

Examples - Building event portals using WordPress, Webflow etc.

Section titled “Approach 02— Use a Popular Event Ticketing Platform”

The second approach eases the organizers from building their portal but rather leverages a popular ticketing platform, which also gives visibility and reach to the events by listing them in their popular portal. However, this means organizers have to compromise on the look and feel of the portal, and work with the standard features and flow available in these ticketing platforms.

  • ✅ Higher visibility and reach to target audience by being listed on these popular event ticketing platforms
  • ✅ Easy and quick setup
  • ✅ Usually more expensive than a custom setup
  • ❌ Custom branded portals or white-labeling
  • ❌ Control over Data, Registration Flows or Rules

Examples - BookMyShow, EventBrite, Lu.ma, etc.

Ulsav allows organizers to build branded event portals giving full control over the experience and data to the organizers, as well as additionally to list them alongside other standalone events in the Ulsav public portal giving higher visibility and reach.

  • ✅ Branded Event Portals
  • ✅ Visibility through listing portal sub-events in the Ulsav public portal
  • ✅ Control over Data, Registration Flows, Rules & Restrictions etc.
  • ✅ Easy & quick to setup
  • ✅ Cheaper than most ticketing platforms, simple pricing with no upfront costs or investment needed.
